** Voting Results Update**

After the Sunday morning service on Sunday 11th May 2025 the congregations met and voted on the Basis of Linkage.
 
Voting for the Basis of Linkage:
Jordanhill :                  58 for – 0 against
Blawarthill :                 26 for – 0 against
St Columba Gaelic :   9 for – 0 against
 
 
Voting for Rev Bruce H Sinclair as the minister of the Linkage :
Blawarthill :               26 for – 0 against
St Columba Gaelic :  9 for – 0 against.
 
These results will be brought to the Glasgow Presbytery meeting on Tuesday 13th May.  If agreed, there will be a Service of Linkage at some point in the future.

On Sunday 11th May 2025 members of Jordanhill Parish Church will be asked to vote on the Basis of Linkage of Jordanhill Parish Church,
Blawarthill Parish Church and St Columba Gaelic.  Below is the draft Basis of Linking.  If any one has any questions beforehand then please contact
either the Session Clerk or Minister.

BASIS OF LINKING

Jordanhill, Blawarthill and St Columba Gaelic

The congregation of Jordanhill Parish Church of Scotland, Glasgow (SC015683)  (“Jordanhill”) and the congregations of Blawarthill Parish Church of Scotland, Glasgow (SC006410) (“Blawarthill”) and St Columbas Gaelic Church of Scotland, Glasgow (SC006342) (“St Columba”) which presently form a linked charge shall all be linked as from 10th January 2026 and that on the following terms and conditions:

  1. Transference of Property and Funds: The property and funds belonging to or held on behalf of each congregation shall remain the property and funds of each congregation as at present.
  2. Places of Worship: Both churches at present used and occupied by the congregations shall be the places of worship of the linked congregations.  Services shall be conducted in Jordanhill at 10.00am and in Blawarthill at 11.30am each Sunday. 
  3. Territorial Responsibility: The bounds to be served by the linked charge shall be               the parishes of Jordanhill and Blawarthill with provision of Christian witness, worship and service to Gaelic culture and language within the boundaries of the Presbytery, or as the Presbytery shall determine. The provisions of the Parish Ministry Act (Act II) 2018 section 4 shall not apply to anything done by a minister in furtherance of the mission of St Columba Gaelic to Gaelic culture and language.
  4. Kirk Session: The Minister of the linked charge shall be the Moderator of each Kirk Session.  The Kirk Sessions will meet together at least once each year.
  5. Congregational Management:  The temporal affairs of each congregation shall be administered as at present.  The office-bearers of the congregations shall meet annually to decide on their portion of the contribution to stipend and related expenses, listed expenses and maintenance of the manse, as may be agreed from time to time by the office-bearers and subject to the approval of the Presbytery.
  6. Minister: The Rev. Bruce Sinclair,  presently Minister of Jordanhill, shall be the Minister of         the linked charge in terms of sections 7(2) and 8 of the Presbytery Mission Plan Act (Act VIII) 2021 and shall be inducted on a basis of unrestricted charge approved by Presbytery.
  7. Manse: The manse of Jordanhill shall be the manse of the linked congregations. The manses of Blawarthill and St Columba shall be sold, let or otherwise disposed of subject to the approval of the Presbytery and, if necessary, of the General Trustees or the General Assembly. The free proceeds of any such sale or let shall (a) if falling within the scope of The Church of Scotland General Trustees (Properties, Funds And Endowments) Act (Act V) 2024 be credited to the benefit of the congregation in the Consolidated Fabric Fund or (b) if not falling within the scope of the said Act, be held and applied for fabric purposes in connection with the properties of Blawarthill and St Columba respectively.

8.Ministerial Support: The stipend of the minister shall be payable in terms of the National Stipend Scheme.

9.Power to Readjust:  While these articles and terms shall form the Basis of Linking for the congregations now linking, the linked congregations shall be free like other congregations, to adjust arrangements under the authority of Presbytery as need may arise.
